SimpleSYN Firewall settings for File and Print Sharing

In the default setting SimpleSYN uses the Microsoft® Peer Name Resolution Protocol (http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/bb726971(en-us).aspx) to find the SimpleSYN server over your local network or the Internet.

If you have turned off the use of the Peer Name Resolution-Protocol in SimpleSYN (How to turn off the use of the Peer Name Resolution-Protocol), SimpleSYN instead uses the computer name of the SimpleSYN server or the IP address in order to establish a connection with the SimpleSYN server.

In a domain environment the Peer Name Resolution Protocol will also not be used in the default setting. In order to find the SimpleSYN server in a network, SimpleSYN requires file and print sharing privileges. This has to be cleared in the Windows Firewall. If you use the SimpleSYN servers IP address or the DNS name instead of the computer name you can ignore these settings.
