If you have a different Desktop firewall than Windows Firewall installed, SimpleSYN could, under Status, display following message:
For SimpleSYN to work properly, make sure the settings in your firewall program are correct.
SimpleSYN cannot automatically configure third party firewalls. If synchronization is not possible the Desktop firewall will have to be manually configured.
The SimpleSYN server requires the following firewall exceptions in a Desktop firewall:
- Unsolicited inbound network traffic for TCP Port 9234 must be allowed in the default setting
- For synchronization over the Internet Windows® Vista / Windows® 7 must additionally allow edge traversal over the Teredo-Tunnel protocol
SimpleSYN uses the Microsoft® Peer Name Resolution Protocol to find the SimpleSYN server over your local network or the Internet. The Peer Name Resolution Protocol must be cleared by your Desktop firewall. Further information regarding firewall settings of the Peer Name Resolution Protocol can be found under Firewall settings for the Peer Name Resolution Protocol.

Your Desktop firewall must support IPv6 for Teredo to work smoothly. Contact the manufacturer of your Desktop firewall for further information.
