Answer:
Yes, SimpleSYN has to be installed on all PCs you wish to synchronize.
Question 42:
I am using the Business Version 2.1 and synchronize over the Internet. Is it possible to synchronize a further SimpleSYN client only on the local network and can I use the standard version?
Answer:
The SimpleSYN Version 2.1 is fully compatible with the Business Version. You can only synchronize over a local network with the standard version, however.
If your SimpleSYN server is configured for Internet synchronization, proceed as follows to establish a connection with a SimpleSYN client without synchronizing over the Internet.
- Open the SimpleSYN user interface of the SimpleSYN client computer
- In the “Options” menu click on “Advanced Options”
- Activate the check box “Use PNRP“ and “Use secure Peer Name“
- Click on “Save”
- Under “Server Name” select the SimpleSYN server and enter the server password
- Click on “Save”
Please note: The SimpleSYN server has to be in the same local network as the client.
Further note: The Configuration Wizard in the standard version cannot establish a connection with the SimpleSYN server if the SimpleSYN server is configured for synchronization via the Internet.
Question 43:
Does the synchronization transcend version type? Can I synchronize Outlook 2003 with Outlook 2010?
Answer:
Yes, you can synchronize different Outlook versions with one another with SimpleSYN. Please note that certain features may have changed in different Outlook versions. For example, from Outlook 2007 on Outlook uses color categories instead of labeling. This can result in differences between the Outlook versions.
Question 44:
Can I synchronize my Windows Mobile Cell Phone with Outlook using SimpleSYN?
Answer:
No, these devices and Windows Mobile are not supported by SimpleSYN. SimpleSYN synchronizes Outlook installations with each other; a computer running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista (32bit/64bit) or Windows 7 (32bit/64bit) is essential.

Question 45:
Does the free trial version have any restrictions?
Answer:
No, the trial version has no restrictions whatsoever; you have access to the full potential of SimpleSYN. There is merely a dialog window on startup informing you how many days you have left on the test version, which you have to manually confirm. You can use and test SimpleSYN for 30 days, for free and noncommittal. After the trial period has ended SimpleSYN cannot be started.
Question 46:
I use the Windows-Firewall or a different personal firewall. What do I need to know?
Answer:
SimpleSYN is a Client-/Server application. In your SimpleSYN network one PC must be configured as a server. The SimpleSYN server must be authorized in the Windows Firewall and/or Desktop firewall. SimpleSYN uses the TCP Port 9234 in the default setting for inbound connections.

Will the settings of Outlook, like e-mail accounts, also be synchronized by SimpleSYN?
Answer:
SimpleSYN only synchronizes the Outlook items. Settings are not transferred. Therefore e-mail accounts have to be manually set up.

How can I call up the SimpleSYN Configuration Wizard again?
Answer:
To call up the Configuration Wizard again, please follow these steps:
- Open the SimpleSYN user interface
- Press the “Alt“ key to show the SimpleSYN menu
- In the menu under “Help” activate the entry “Show Configuration Wizard on next startup“
- Exit SimpleSYN. To do so right-click on the SimpleSYN symbol in the Windows system tray and choose “Exit”
The next time SimpleSYN is opened the configuration window will be displayed again.

Does SimpleSYN support the synchronization of Outlook 2010 64-Bit?
Answer:
Yes, SimpleSYN now supports Outlook 2010 in 64-Bit. Please make sure that you have the 64-Bit Version of SimpleSYN 2.1 downloaded and installed.
Question 50:
How can I tell if the SimpleSYN client has established a connection with the SimpleSYN server?
Answer:
The SimpleSYN symbol is shown in the Windows system tray.
On the SimpleSYN client computer the symbol becomes multi-colored

when the SimpleSYN client establishes a connection with the SimpleSYN server and is ready for synchronization.

Can SimpleSYN be used to synchronize Business Contact Manager data?
Answer:
No, the Business Contact Manager is not supported by SimpleSYN.

What additional features does the Business Version offer?
Answer:
The SimpleSYN Business Version, in addition to all the features of the standard version, offers synchronization over the Internet, as well as a filter function, with which you can filter out Outlook items that are not to be synchronized.

Can SimpleSYN 2.0 synchronize Outlook 2010?
Answer:
Outlook 2010 is fully supported from SimpleSYN 2.1 onwards. Install the newest version of SimpleSYN on all computers in order to synchronize Outlook 2010. The update from SimpleSYN 2.0 to SimpleSYN 2.1 Standard is free of charge for all customers of Version 2.0.
