How to install SimpleSYN with the help of the Configuration Wizard

Before you can synchronize with SimpleSYN you must setup the SimpleSYN program. For ease of use SimpleSYN has a Configuration Wizard that can guide you step by step through the necessary configuration.

SimpleSYN can be run either as a SimpleSYN server or as a SimpleSYN client. To successfully synchronize you must have at least one installed version of SimpleSYN running as a SimpleSYN server and a second installation running as a SimpleSYN client.

Setup SimpleSYN server
Begin the setup of your SimpleSYN server. This way the SimpleSYN clients will be able to detect the SimpleSYN server automatically. The SimpleSYN-Server is the central point of contact and relays the items to be synchronized on to all SimpleSYN clients. If you, for example, wish to synchronize your Desktop-PC with your Notebook, set up your Desktop-PC as a SimpleSYN server and your Notebook as a SimpleSYN client.
  1. Click on the welcome page of the Configuration Wizard on "Next", to proceed with the setup of SimpleSYN
  2. If you have more than one Outlook®-Profile, you first have to choose the Outlook®-Profile you wish to synchronize
  3. Select "This is the SimpleSYN server" (default) and the check box "Use Peer-to-Peer technology" (default) and, if needed "Synchronize via the Internet" (Internet synchronization only on the Business Version). Click on "Next"
  4. Choose a secure password for your SimpleSYN-Server and enter it in the following dialogue. You can also click on "Set server password" in Step 3. Make a note of the password.
  5. Click on  "Finish" to complete the setup of the SimpleSYN servers.

  1. Click on the welcome page of the Configuration Wizard on "Next", to proceed with the setup of SimpleSYN
  2. If you have more than one Outlook®-Profile, you first have to choose the Outlook®-Profile you wish to synchronize
  3. If you have successfully set up and started the SimpleSYN server the Configuration Wizard on the client computer should find it automatically and preselect the SimpleSYN client settings. Select "This is a SimpleSYN client and type in under "Server password" the password of the SimpleSYN server which you chose during the setup of the SimpleSYN server in Step 3. Select the check box "Use Peer-to-Peer technology" (default) and, if needed "Synchronize via the Internet" (Internet synchronization only on the Business Version). Click on "Next"
  4. In the following window choose the Outlook®-Folders that are to be automatically synchronized. Click on the check box on front the corresponding Outlook®-Folders to determine the direction of synchronization. If the arrow points in both directions the selected folders will be synchronized by server and client. Renewed clicking changes the synchronization direction. If the arrow points right the folder will only be synchronized from server to client. If the arrow points left the folder will only be synchronized from client to server. Click on "Next"
  5. Click on  "Finish" to complete the setup of the SimpleSYN client. The synchronization will then start automatically.
