Conflicts

Synchronization conflicts could come up if, for example, the same Outlook element was altered on both, the client PC as well as the server PC while the PCs are not connected or SimpleSYN is not running. A conflict may also occure if, for an instant, the same Outlook element was changed on the client PC and deleted on the server PC.

Conflicts

SimpleSYN offers you under the menu point   Conflicts several options to sort out synchronization conflicts manually. In the overview page all the found conflicts will be listed for you. Doubleclick on one entry and select in the following dialog how SimpleSYN should sort out this conflict.

Case 1: The element was altered on both PCs.

Here you have the choice between:

  • Use client item:
Here the items from the side of the client are used. All changes on the server will get overwritten.
  • Use the server item:
Here the item of the server side is used. Changes on the client will get overwritten.
  • To copy an item:
The element is simply getting copied but both elements will be kept. Please note that the element will get duplicated.
  • Not to synchronize:
The item is not getting synchronized. Both versions of the element are being kept and treated as the same. Hint: If you change one of the elements again, the other element will be overwritten.

Alternatively you will receive further possibilities of selections if you press the right mouse button.

Case 2: The element was altered but deleted on the destination computer computer.

The element was altered but deleted on the destination computer computer

Here you have the choice between:

  • Keep item:
The changes are being kept and the item will not be deleted.
  • Delete item:
Changes will be ignored and the deletion will get synchronized.
