I get the message “An error has occured”. During the access on your Outlook data an error has occured. What can I do?

This message could be caused by defective Add-Ins of other manufacturers. Outlook Add- Ins of other manufacturers can block the communication between SimpleSYN and Outlook. Known problems: You may get this message if you have installed the Apple Mobile Device Support add-In (gets installed automatically via Itunes). Because of the Add-In the closing of Outlook could be blocked. In this case please uninstall the Add-In via the Windows system control and wait for a iTunes-Update, respectively turn to the Apple Support.

How does SimpleSYN function?

SimpleSYN synchronizes the Outlook files that you monitor in the synchronization settings. The Outlook synchronization is carried out completely automatically. Example: If a new e-mail is received, an already existing e-mail changed, deleted or shifted SimpleSYN will synchronize this activity. SimpleSYN checks in the configured target file whether the mail exists already. In case the mail is not existing yet it gets synchronized into the target file. (unless the e-mail was supposed to be deleted). In case the e-mail exists already it gets only synchronized if anything has been changed in the e-mail. Should one computer not be available at that time, the e-mail will get synchronized as soon as both computers in the network are available. Furthermore it is possible to manually synchronize singular Outlook elements / files via the additional SimpleSYN Outlook Add-In.

Is it neccessary for the synchronization to have Outlook started on all computers?

No, Outlook must not run, only SimpleSYN must be started on all computers

No connection was established. What do I have to considder?

Please check first whether your computers have built up a connection via the network and whether they are able to communicate with each other. The correct computer name of the server PC has to be entered on the client PCs. Alternatively you may enter the IP address of the server PC in case the annulment / canallation of names in your network does not function correctly. The encryption (menu point Options> Advanced Options>point / security settings) must either be activated or deactivated on all computers. Otherwise no connection can come about. Certain requirements are neccessary for the encryption. Further information you will get here. Furthermore make sure that SimpleSYN on the server PC is not blocked by a personal Firewall, respectively by a Windows Firewall. SimpleSYN uses the Port 9234 for incoming connections. The SimpleSYN connection is established when the SimpleSYN symbol is shown in the Windows task bar of the client PC.
