Installation

The installation of SimpleSYN requires only a few steps. A wizard will guide you through the installation. Please follow these steps:

Start SimpleSYN

To start SimpleSYN do either of the following:

Trial version
Applies to version: Version 6.x, Version 7.x
The trial version of SimpleSYN can be used without restrictions for 30 days. During this trial period, a notification dialog will appear each time SimpleSYN is launched, displaying the remaining trial duration.

Activating SimpleSYN
Applies to version: Version 7.x
Continued use of SimpleSYN after the trial expiration requires the purchase of a license.

Set-up
Applies to version: Version 7.x
Before SimpleSYN can be used for synchronization, it must be set up once. A setup wizard is available to guide you step by step through all necessary settings. Alternatively, you can configure SimpleSYN manually – further information about the available options can be found here.

Synchronization
Applies to version: Version 7.x
After configuring SimpleSYN and establishing a connection between SimpleSYN-client and SimpleSYN-server an automatic synchronization starts.

SimpleSYN notification area symbol
Applies to version: Version 4.x, Version 5.x, Version 6.x, Version 7.x
The SimpleSYN icon is displayed in the notification area of the Windows® taskbar. When the SimpleSYN main window is closed, the application is not terminated but instead minimized to the notification area.

SimpleSYN main window

To open the SimpleSYN main window, start SimpleSYN and double click onto the SimpleSYN symbol in the Windows® notification area. Alternatively right click the symbol and select “Open SimpleSYN”.

Status
Applies to version: Version 7.x
Under the “Status” menu, you can access a clear and up-to-date overview of the current synchronization status at any time. Here, you can instantly see which of your Outlook® folders are currently being synchronized and in which direction the data is being exchanged — whether from server to client, from client to server, or bidirectionally.

Synchronization conflicts

In SimpleSYN, synchronization conflicts can arise in two situations:

In this section, you can customize the settings made by the configuration wizard and optimally adapt SimpleSYN to your personal requirements.

Open the 'Options' menu and then select 'Advanced Options' to access additional settings in SimpleSYN.

Synchronization settings
Applies to version: Version 7.x
In this section, you can configure the type of synchronization in detail. The available options under “Synchronization Settings” depend on whether SimpleSYN is set up as a server or a client.

Security
Applies to version: Version 7.x
SimpleSYN places great emphasis on the security of your Outlook® data. All communication is always highly encrypted – using modern hybrid encryption protocols such as SSL and TLS. Your personal Outlook® data is never stored in the cloud, but is transmitted directly and exclusively between the participating PCs.

Tools

SimpleSYN cannot only perfectly synchronize Outlook® but offers additional powerful features. These can be found in the SimpleSYN menu which is directly integrated into Outlook® in the submenu “Tools” or respectively in the SimpleSYN-ribbon in Outlook®.

Configuration export/import

SimpleSYN provides the ability to export your configuration settings to a file and import them on another computer or as a backup. This feature helps you:

Automatic updates

By default, SimpleSYN checks once a day whether a newer version of SimpleSYN is available.
