Configuration

Applies to version: Version 1.x

After the initial setup by the setup wizard, a user account is automatically created and all Outlook folders of the default data file are added for synchronization with the end device. In the Configuration area, you can adjust the synchronization if necessary and set up additional users. Each Outlook data file you want to synchronize requires its own user account.

Changed settings on the configuration are automatically applied by the program, e.g. when you leave the configuration via another menu item. To do this, the synchronization is terminated and restarted. This is visible through a short-term "gray" in the about area of the Windows taskbar. The setup of the smartphone can only begin when the settings have been applied and the icon appears again "colored". This process may take a moment.

User settings

Here you can activate or deactivate the user account. If the user account is deactivated, no device can establish a connection.

Username

Choose a username. The username is used to log in to SimpleSYN Mobile from the end device.

Display name

Select a display name for the user account. The display name is used to easily identify the user account, e.g., when displaying the status in “Devices”.

Email address

Contains an automatically generated email address that is required to establish a connection from your device.

This is a SimpleSYN Mobile pseudo-email address named @simplesyn.app. The email address cannot be changed and is not intended for the real sending or receiving of email. It only serves to facilitate the establishment of a connection from your end device.

Password

Configures the password for establishing a connection from your device. A password is required.

By default, the SimpleSYN Mobile user account is also accessible via the Internet. Therefore, make sure that you use a secure password with a high level of complexity in order to prevent misuse.

Outlook profile

Select the Outlook profile you want to synchronize. If this does not match the default Outlook profile, unselect the "Use default profile" check box. A list of available profiles is then displayed.

Message store

Select the Outlook data file you want to synchronize (the default data file is preselected).

SimpleSYN Mobile synchronizes a single data file per user account. This makes the assignment of standard folders such as Inbox, Calendar or Contacts easily recognizable on the end device.

If you want to synchronize several data files, you must create additional user accounts in SimpleSYN Mobile and add several connected accounts on the device.

Send email from

Configures the email account or email address that SimpleSYN Mobile should use for outgoing email.

SimpleSYN Mobile supports sending emails, but not directly; instead it uses the existing Outlook configuration. If an email is sent by an end device, SimpleSYN Mobile creates it in the Outlook outbox and now relies on Outlook to ensure that this email is actually sent. The sender email address is automatically replaced by SimpleSYN Mobile with the address selected here, so the pseudo email address (ending with @simplesyn.app) of SimpleSYN Mobile does not appear as the sender.

Synchronized folders

Select the Outlook folders that should be available to the end device for synchronization. The Outlook folders that are marked with a check mark have been selected for synchronization.

Some devices require the presence of certain folders. These include the Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Drafts folders. SimpleSYN Mobile will always add these folders as empty "virtual" folders if the message store does not contain them, or if you deselected these folders. They will therefore always appear on your device.

Some devices will always synchronize deletions as a move to the "Deleted Items" folder. If this folder is not available or is not allowed to synchronize, deleting items from the device will fail.

Other settings

Here you can choose whether to add new categories created by an end device to the main category list. If this option is activated, SimpleSYN checks whether all categories used in the items are present in the master category list during synchronization. If not, SimpleSYN adds the category name to the master category list with a default color.

Backup

Here you can specify whether deleted items or deleted folders should be backed up.
